"i’m fairly process-oriented so i generally start all meetings with getting to know the model a bit, walking him through my print portfolio, my release form, where and how i might use the images etc. over the years, i’ve learned that the key to getting the right image has everything to do with the right model, the right light, patience and a little bit of luck. i do work with some models who are just getting started and i will direct them very specifically in terms of pose, body position/angle, and facial expressions"

"i was always a creative type, in graduate school, i started leaning more towards other creative outlets mainly through work/research in performance studies and identity. though i ultimately decided graduate school was nonsense, i remained very interested in how we might portray ourselves within a moment of space and time and how that moment might become something simple yet beautiful, my photography has become an extension of that."

"attitude is everything, to be honest. i don’t have a set type of model that i like, but i would absolutely say that my best models have many things in common. they take direction well. they are up for just about anything. they desire to create something beautiful and/or memorable. they are strong individuals, both physically and mentally. they respect that i prefer to shoot indoors in the afternoons... and, they don’t ask questions if i slug down 5 bottles of diet pepsi during a 2-hour shoot."

"practice your work and your techniques, either with your camera or in the mirror. create an inspiration folder. as you are looking around online at models’ portfolios or photographers’ portfolios, make note of what you like, right-click (if you can) and save it. studying what makes an image effective will really develop your own aesthetic over time. finally, i would say, don’t be afraid to take calculated risks. if the shot doesn’t turn out, it’s more than ok (most of them don’t, let’s face it). at least you tried and from that, you will improve"

"i deal with rejections by always having plan b"

"not really out of place situations, no. as i mentioned, i have a pretty controlled and measured way of things so i haven’t had a lot of “oops”. if anything, i’ve had days where the light and my camera haven’t quite been friends and i’ve been unhappy with the results of a shoot. it happens though, and, when it does, i usually just schedule another shoot with the model and we knock it out the next time."

"i think all of my shoots have been memorable in some way, even the less-than-amazing ones. on a couple occasions, i have had models or clients cry when they’ve seen the results of our work because they are so pleased with how they look. that’s pretty touching, really. the bulk of the time though, the response is “damn james, I look hot.” i'll take that too."
james lives and work at san francisco. he specializes in different types of photography from portrait, art, physique to nude photography. he's great in balancing light and using it to highlight his subjects at the same time he is not afraid to work on different themes and concepts. currently james and his friends are making their own wine, how's the taste? this summer they'll going to find out. james is also into reality and home improvement shows, added to that, he loves to go out, eat out and have fun. to know more about james, click jw2 photo

James is an amazing photographer with a great gift. He is particular about his style and gives great direction. The fact that he meets with his models prior to a shoot demonstrates how serious and personable he is. Aside from being a talented photographer, he has a friendly personality, a good sense of humor, and intelligence. James rocks!
James has been a pleasure to work with on more than one occasion. He has a great way of bringing out the best in a photo shoot whether its drawing the blind just enough or positioning the model in the right spot. Outside the studio he is a genuinely nice person, and I look forward to working with him again in the future.
i like his style to be honest..
James shots are likable and lively. He has HOT models btw, just an observation :-)))
