when jet was studying japanese in college, he fell in love with two japanese characters, kana and shi, which translates to sorrow. he adopted this word and call it his own, "i know that there will always be sadness inside of me no matter how i improve so i’ve grown to adjust and accept the sadness inside", by embracing sadness, jet was able to see the real lessons in life, that happiness and love can happen even when you are surrounded by sadness.

"i was never a social person, most of my life, back in high school, i never let anyone in, and this contributed to my feelings of sadness, added to that i am in the middle of an awkward growing up phase where many things are changing, including my voice which i hated, to solve this, i whisphered, which later on i realized is not really the solution because you can't get any insightful conversation with someone who is whisphering"

"i have to say there are probably more instances where I feel out of place than i can count. i'm really used to spending time by myself so every time i have to go somewhere crowded I feel really out of place, and i start singing and making funny noises with my mouth to distract my nerves, so i imagine i must get some pretty strange looks!"

"i called my debut cd enjoy the sadness because i enjoy knowing that I was very sad at certain points in my life, and during those moments all my creativity just flow out of me. when im sad, i fantasized living in a magical world that can only exist in japanese cartoons, through this fantasies i found safety and happiness. i think by enjoying sadness, i learn more about life, that if i look beyond those tears and emotions, i will see a stronger me, and soon i'll just find myself out there, embracing life once again"
